Five people have been injured after a bomb detonated in one of the busiest subway station in New York City.

A Bangladeshi man set off a homemade bomb strapped to his body in a crowded commuter hub during the morning rush, Monday. The police immediately called it an attempted terrorist attack.

“Let’s be clear, as New Yorkers, our lives revolve around the subways,” Mayor Bill de Blasio said at a news conference. “And let’s also be clear, this was an attempted terrorist attack.”

A suspect is a 27-year-old man that goes by the name Akayed Ullah. He was taken to the hospital with burn injuries from the explosive device which was attached to his body with Velcro and zip ties. The bomb did not fully blast and that’s why the attack was not successful since, only five people were injured.

This attempted terrorist attack happened in the Port Authority Bus Terminal in Manhattan, on Monday.
