On October 18, 1922, the BBC was founded in London and it celebrated its 100th anniversary last October 18. To honour its 100th anniversary, the news source published a series of special programmes that were about the nation’s favourite programmes and their best-loved programmes of all time.

But the BBC also faces challenges during its lifetime. One challenge that the British Broadcasting Corporation faced was that a news bulletin on a May 4 said that the government wanted to replace the British company by creating the British Gazette, another telecasting source. Winston Churchill, the president at the time and also the general manager of The British Gazette sought to use emergency powers to take over the newspaper but, John Reith, the BBC general manager resisted.

BBC faces another challenge which is to reach young people, the news source needs to still attract attention because a lot of teenagers between the age of 16 and 24 spend more time on TikTok than on a broadcasting channel. If they don’t manage to attract more attention and generate interest from the younger generations it could be a problem for advertisers. They could eventually in the next few years, get removed from a few channels on television like Channel 4 or Sky but for now, the BBC is indispensable.”Our biggest nightmare at this time is to lose access to Channel 4 or Sky.” said the BBC general manager.

The British Broadcasting Company was worth at his top in 2016 2.62 billion dollars and it takes around 4 billion sterling pounds (6.140 billion Canadian dollars) each year with a record income of 5.33 billion sterling pounds (7.22 billion Canadian $) in the 2021-2022 period.

To all the people that like to watch BBC, some journalists say that it may not pass the next few decades but John Reith the BBC foundation said that ”Quality, not quantity, is the BBC’s best hope.”
