According to L’ONG ”HK clean up”, the territory is approaching its saturation point for garbage processing. The discharge of Hong Kong should be full by 2018 according to Louisa Ho, the director of the Hong Kong branch of the ”the nature conservancy”. They have this problem because in Hong Kong, everything is made to be convenient, not environmental.

We have to find a solution to reduce the pollution in Hong Kong because it becomes worst and worst everyday. According to the governement, just 5 percent of plastic is being sent for recycling compared to 25 percents in 2005. So, this is a major set back in evolution.

First of all, Hong Kong resident should adopt the “reduce, re-use, recycle”. They should also propose to be part of a volunteer army of cleaners and helpers. To reduce the amount of plastic bag, they  should all use more reuseable bags.

In 2014, globally plastic production has surged 311 millions tons of plastic. Per day, approximately 3 pds of domestic waste is produced by one single person. This number seems small but if we have a look at the population mass which is 7,188 million it becomes alarming. So if nobody puts some effort to it, those statistics could double in 20 years. In facts, everybody in the world should put some efforts because its a worldwide problem.

The Hong Kong science museum started a project “out to sea? the plastic garbage project”. That consists to clean the beach and other similar places. They also want to educate people and make them understand the harmful effects of plastic waste on birds and marine animals. If you want more info on this project.
