Self defense’s lessons at La Camaradière

On November 24, a group of four martial artist came at La Camaradière to present their style of karate, the aïkido.

In the hall, four martial artist came, at noon, to present the aïkido to the student who were willing to listen, performing many techniques while explaining what they were doing using a microphone. They started their presentation by shortly explaining the origin of their martial art and continued by showing many technique of auto-defense.

The four “aïkidoka” came during lunchtime to feature their extracurricular activity to the student. this activity  will be available on January 24th 2018 and will end on Mai 2nd. the lesson will last 75 minutes each Wednesday at 16h15 afther school. Each lesson will follow this procedure; 20 minutes of warm up, 50 minutes of aïkido’s techniques and 5 minutes of stretching.

The program will be available to every student at the school La Camaradière, boys and girl, secondary 1 to secondary 5 and will be adapt to a school context.

The aïkido is a Japanese martial art base on defense only, in other words, an aïkidoka could never use his knowledge to attack. This recent martial art was created by Morihei Ueshiba (1883-1969) based on ancestral samurai’s techniques. The goal of the aïkido is to use the strength of the opponent against himself.
