Citizens all over the country, especially soldiers or veterans, were angry about the leak of information that happened a few months ago concerning the airstrikes in Yemen. They mentioned that it’s important to keep all the details of their job secret and that even their family doesn’t know when they’ll come back from their mission. It’s these pieces of information that several military wives say make them live in fear of never seeing their husbands again.
“Any service member that did something like this would (rightly) be in a cell, pending a short trial with a guaranteed conviction that would put them in prison for decades,” affirmed a former military member. He felt like it was unfair for the military members, because if it was their mistake, they would be severely punished.
Though there are military personnel who feel it’s unfair that the administration doesn’t receive any punishment, some of them feel more afraid than disappointed.
“The thought of the enemy knowing where I’ll be, when I’ll be there, and what I’ll be doing…and knowing that I still have to go and do it anyway,” affirmed a Former Naval Aviator. “It made me feel uneasy and a bit scared.”
Although Trump stated he had no concerns about his security, many disagree, knowing that it had been a long time since this kind of incident had happened. Some family members of military people also expressed serious concerns about Trump, feeling that he isn’t a competent president and is not well-surrounded.
To reduce a growing population’s disappointment, the U.S. government announced that it was one of the biggest mistakes the United States had encountered. The minority leader, Chuck Schumer, mentioned not long after the incident that they would do a full investigation to make sure such a major problem like this happen again.
