Tommy Durand, a New Dancing Star

This year, Tommy Durand and his team NXT participated to a popular dance show called Revolution.

On November 28th 2017, NXT , our local dance troup , received a call from the producer of Revolution saying that they were chosen to participate in the TV show.Tommy said: ” that they were very excited to have the opportunity to show the audience their talents.”

Révolution is a tv show which gather all the best dancers of quebec. This show is presented every sunday at 7:30 PM on TVA. The judges in this competition are Jean-Marc Généreux, Lydia Bouchard and Les Twins. More than 3000 dancers did the pre-auditions but only 100  dancers have been kept to participate to the popular TV show.

Our dancers had to prepare a choreography for their first appearance on stage ,on the song ¨ Non rien de rien ¨ sang by Edith Piaf. The judges liked their dance so they passed the audition .

After, they prepared a second choreography for the duels. They were against Yoherlandy , a contemporary dancer. They were very close to win but unfortunately they lost the duel. Les Twins voted for them but Lydia Bouchard and Jean-Marc Généreux voted for Yoherlandy. At the beginning they were really disappointed about the situation but after Tommy said: ” We will work harder to come back stronger next year.”

Tommy Durand started dancing at five years old because his parents found that he was hyperactive so they wanted him to do something and he was always dancing when ever he heard  music.

Before he was dancing at Uni Dance but he changed studio five years ago to go at l’Académie de danse de la capitale. Tommy practices five types of dance: contemporary, jazz, ballet, lyrical and hip hop.

For his first big appearance on stage, he did a show with Lenni kim and five other boys at The Club Soda , two years ago. Also, two weeks ago NXT won ”Quebec en scene” in the dance category.

We are looking forward to see his fabulous talent on stage again!
