On November 10th, there was the Parade des jouets in Limoilou and it was a big hit. The parade hosted more than 100 000 people.

This event lasted two days, the main event was held on November 10 at night. The next day, there were some activities such as inflatable games, pictures with Santa Claus, ‘’Atchoum le clown’’s show and more surprises at the Place Jean-Béliveau.

The Parade des jouets was sponsored by iA financial group and under the direction of Jimmy Doucet Productions. This year was the 17th edition of this event and it was on the theme of children’s imagination. There were more than a dozen floats in the parade.

The parade was a good opportunity for the kids to give their letters for Santa Claus to the postman and their old toys to ‘’Les lutins de l’Armée du Salut’’. The toys are given to disadvantaged children. The association tries to give at least two toys per child.

More than 650 dancers, musicians and volunteers were in this parade. Marysa Sirois, a student from La Camaradière school participated. She was dancing and entertaining the kids with her dance troup. ‘’When I was a kid, I never thought I would have the chance to participate in this parade’’said Marysa.

The weather was ideal for the dancers and musicians, but it was cold for the spectators because they were not moving a lot in the crowd. At the end of this parade, it started to snow and it was giving some magical spirits to this show.

For 17 years now, the Ateliers Balthazar are the producers of all the floats for the Parade des jouets. Fifty percent of them are completely rebuilt each year to match to the theme of this event.

‘’I think every dancer should do this parade, because it’s an amazing experience’’ said Marysa.
