Vintage Throwback – Red Hot Chili Peppers

Red Hot Chili Peppers, also sometimes named ” The Chili Peppers ” or abbreviated as ” RHCP ” is a band actually composed of Anthony Kiedis , Flea (his real name is Michael Balzary), Chad Smith and Josh Klinghoffer. The musicians changed through the years. The group were formed in Los Angeles by Anthony Kiedis in 1983-84. Anthony formed the group with his classmates from Fairfax High School. Their first apparition was in a strip-tease club in Los Angeles. They had only one song and a rumor said they took LSD on their first set.
Their musical style is principally alternative rock or funk rock. Their music is inspired by Jimi Hendrix, The Misfits, Bob Marley, Queen, Stevie Wonder, Led Zeppelin, Nirvana and more.Through the years, Kiedis lyrics covered a variety of topics, which shifted as time progressed. Early in the group’s career, Kiedis wrote mostly comical songs filled with sexual content, as well as songs inspired by friendship and the band members’ personal experiences. However, after the death of his close friend and band mate Hillel Slovak, Kiedis’ lyrics became so much more personal. The theme used in their music are mostly: love, friendship, teenagers, good-times, aggression, various sexual topics, the link between sex and music, political and social commentary, romance, loneliness, poverty, drugs, alcohol, dealing with death and california.
The band faced a major crisis as they lost one of their band mates, Hillel Slovak, who died on June 25th 1988. He death was a result of a serious drug addiction. Irons, an ancient band member, decided to leave the group saying that he did not want to be part of a group where his friends were dying. He battled years of depression, went on to become a member of Seattle grunge band Pearl Jam many years later.
