Strong Tensions Between U.K and France

A lot of tensions are created between the U.K and France because of the deaths of many migrants who are trying to cross the world’s busiest waterway in small boats.

Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin said that five suspected smugglers have been arrested because they were involved in the deadliest migration tragedy to date on the dangerous sea lane.

French authorities said that there were at least 27 to 31 deaths. Among the ones who died there was a pregnant woman and childrens because their little boat sank while trying to cross the channel. This year more than 25,000 people have made the dangerous channel crossing,  about triple the total for the whole of 2020.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and French President Emmanuel Macron said that they would “do everything possible” to stop smugglers from endangering lives. Politicians are already sniping at their counterparts because they failed to prevent Wednesday’s tragedy.

Zoe Gardner, of the Joint Council of Welfare for Immigrants, told the BBC that this tragedy was completely predictable, indeed it was predicted and it was completely preventable.
