Fatal Crash at Lachine Canal

Monday morning, January 3, 2022, a septuagenarian driving an SUV got hit by a truck and the car fell into the Lachine Canal in Montreal.
There were two passengers in the car, both were septuagenarians. The lady died and the man was brought to a hospital, he was badly injured.
The incident occurred at the corner of Dollard Avenue and Saint-Patrick street. The SUV was traveling eastbound on St. Patrick street when it hit a truck traveling northbound on Dollard Avenue explained Raphael Bergeron the spokesperson for the city of Montreal police service.
The SUV veered off the road, struck the sidewalk, and descended a steep slope leading to the canal. He then tipped over on the ice. She cracked but didn’t give way under the weight of the car.
Following an intervention by the ice rescue team of the Montreal fire department, the firefighter managed to get the two-vehicle occupants out of the car. The death of the woman was recorded on the spot.
