A Few Clicks to Help Ukraine

Arianne Tremblay

People across the globe are finding creative ways to give money to Ukrainians to support their fight against the Russian invasion.

The trend started as a couple booked a room for a week in Kyiv from the Airbnb plateform. They posted on Twitter “Hello Maria, my wife and I have just booked your apartment for a week, but of course, we will not be visiting you. It is just so that you can receive money.” Quickly, it became Viral.

Now Airbnb is a very involved company in terms of helping Ukraine. When you get on the site the first image is publicity to encourage people to donate or to host refugees from Ukraine. Everything is well explained about how to donate or how to host. 100% of the funds are now given to the victims of the war and none of the profits goes to Airbnb.

As of the moment, Most of the accommodations in Ukraine are booked until June 2022, some are even booked until March 2025. This is the link for donations: https://fr.airbnb.org/help-ukraine?_set_bev_on_new_domain=1648133765_NDY0YjU4Zjc3Yjkz

Other Canadian organizations and companies are also involved in donations. As an example, The Canadien Red Cross has already collected 45 million dollars for humanitarian help. They also are really involved in the field, giving medical support, helping with the migration of the population, financial aid, and communication.

Desjardin partnered with the Red Cross and gave 100 000$ to the cause.

The ways to support Ukraine are really well explained everywhere. There’s the Red Cross has a link is in the front page of the site that makes it easy to chip in. Many sites offer that support.
