Greenhouse Gas: How Can We Stop This?
April 2, 2022
Carbon dioxide accumulation in the atmosphere has been an issue not so long after the start of the industrial revolution. You may be wondering what causes this and how it may affect your day-to-day life.
Carbon dioxide, which is caused by the emission of greenhouse gases, traps heat in the atmosphere and makes temperatures rise. Although this could give us a long summer, it could also lead to the melt of icebergs which can result in floods in certain areas along with droughts in other places. Greenhouse gases can also lead to smog and poor air quality which can lead to diseases and shorten your life.
According to the EPA (the United States Environmental Protection Agency), the main sources of greenhouse gasses are transportation, electricity production, and industry. This means that we can’t fully stop this phenomenon without the cooperation of big companies and organizations that produce our electricity and our food.
A solution for these emissions would be to walk or bike to close places and take the bus to the farther ones. Electric cars would also be a good solution because tesla claims “In 2020, Tesla customers helped accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy by avoiding 5.0 million metric tons of CO2e emissions”. Also with gas prices going up right now, buses and bikes will have less of a toll on your wallet.
