Since October 7th, 2023, there’s been a war going on between Israel and Hamas. Effectively, this conflict presents no signs of slowing down.
Hamas, a Palestinian political and military terrorist movement, attacked Israel’s population on Saturday, October 7th, 2023, and declared war the next day; Sunday, October 8th, 2023. Palestine and Israel have been in conflict since May 14th, 1948 because Israel has taken over part of the Palestine’s territory. According to Hamas, this war is about ending Israel’s numerous violations.
During the October 7 attack, Hamas kidnapped over 250 Israelis of various nationalities and brought them back to their enclave. This triggered a strong response from the Netanyahu government as they invaded the region.
Since the start of this conflict, there have been at least 26 637 deaths and 65 387 people injured resulting from the Israeli strikes. A state administration deputy declared, “We extend our deepest condolences to the victims and the families of all those affected.”
Furthermore, 6 Canadians have been reported dead from the Hamas attack.
According to reports, The first Canadian victim is 33-year-old Adi Vital-Kaploun who was murdered in her house by the Hamas terrorists. “Our family lost a mother, a wife, a sister, a daughter, a granddaughter, a niece, a cousin,” Her husband reported. “Her children are miraculously home and safe”.
The two other compatriots are 22-year-old Ben Mizrachi and 33-year-old Alexandre Look, they were both killed on the morning of October 8th at the Supernova festival in Israel. However, Alexandre managed to save the lives of around 30 people. “He was a human shield, he protected all of those people from bullets inside of a bunker”. A survivor commented, “He was our shield. I swear to you, he was our shield. If it wasn’t for him, all 30 of us in there would be dead,”.
The 3 other people are Tiferet Lapidot, Shir Georgy and, Netta Epstein. They add on the other thousands of deaths caused by this war.
Overall, this war has caused a lot of deaths and many people have lost contact with their families. This war presents no signs of slowing down and will likely continue in force. Many Israelis are losing hope of seeing their loved ones again.
