Normal gas cars are only using fuel, hybrids are half electric and fuel usage. Does it make a difference on the environment and our wallets?
Some people may think that hybrids are more green than gas cars, but they aren’t really. When you’re driving a hybrid car, you usually start with electric, but there is a maximum electricity range in this car. When it is empty, it jumps on gas and it does the same thing as if you were driving a gas car. On the other hand, electric cars are not doing the same thing. They only use electricity. If you want to be green and make an impact on the environment, electric cars are the ones you should buy or maybe a hybrid if you just want to make a small difference.
Hybrids do not only have inconveniences, it also has positive points, for exemple, when you’re driving it, it doesn’t make a lot of noise, it is mostly silent. If you go on little trips and the car is full of electricity, it is nice because you won’t have to pay for gas.
You may think that hybrids are as polluting as normal cars, well you are not wrong, but you are not right either. Hybrids are burning gasoline, but clearly not as much as gas ones. Of course, if you are rolling on electricity, it won’t burn any gasoline. This only apply when the car is empty of its electricity. On the long term, if you only use a hybrid car it will make a positive impact on the environment. “Right now we are facing a climate crisis, and we absolutely need to reduce our dependency on fossil fuel cars,” says Katherine Garcia, who directs the Sierra Club’s Clean Transportation.
When cars like this are being built, they actually pollute a lot if not more than conventional cars. Making hybrid batteries and its body is actually a big factor of pollutants. On this side, it is not worth buying, but if you only use your hybrid car when it is only on electricity, it doesn’t really pollute, so it does counterbalance the pollution it has made while being produced.
