Blood donations are important in our society.
On February 23, blood donations, organized by Héma-Québec, was held at La Camaraderie Highschool in the cafeteria.
Marjorie Savard, a teacher, was the person who made this possible to be held at La Camaraderie Hghschool.
Blood donations are important to society because it could save someone else’s life. Blood contains many functions like transporting oxygen and nutrients to the lungs and tissues. This donation exists to help people who have lost blood or those who are not making enough red blood cells. The process takes about eight to ten minutes or a little bit more.
The purpose of blood donations is to help blood that is lost due to surgery or injury. With this, it could save lives. Blood gives energy by bringing oxygen and nutrients to the body cells. For an interesting fact, a female can donate up to four times a year while a male can donate up to six times a year.
This type of donation is only acceptable if you’re 18 and above, in good general health and more other requirements needed. You can donate whole blood every 56 days but other types, like plasma, have different duration. Plasma can be donated every 28 days. Doctors say it recommended to donate often.
