A Brazilian soccer team’s mascot is accused of sexual harassment by a journalist, on Sunday, after he hugged the woman without her consent.
“Another day where women simply want to do their jobs in sports and they suffer from sexual harassment because of criminal idiots. I’m going all the way to stop this from happening to women, ” reported on Monday by journalist Gisele Kumpel, on X.
On Monday, the journalist went to the police station to denounce the man under the mascot who hugged her after their team’s winning goal, for whom the man wore the colors.
At this moment, she was the only woman to work behind the net, she said, and the only one that the mascot was behaving weirdly. The woman tried to push the man from her to indicate her discomfort.
“When the soccer team scored, he stopped next to me and squeezed me in his arm, even with the mask, he pushed my head and tried to kiss me. I could hear the sound of a kiss and feel his sweat”, said the woman.
With the complaint, the person who was in the mascot, whose identity wasn’t revealed, got suspended from his role and waiting for the police investigation to come to terms.
“The man is going to be separated from Saci (a popular character in Brazilian folklore). We hope that it will be resolved soon.
