“When we put it on the balance, I was a little bit shocked. I knew it was big, but I had to double-check just to be sure”, declared Brad Hocking, responsible for the blueberries in the group Costa, a fruits and vegetables productor.
The blueberry, which was almost the size of a golf ball with a diameter of 39,31 millimeters, would have shown 20,40 g once put on the balance, which is ten times bigger than a regular blueberry. The heaviest blueberry in the world is now part of a new variety called Eterna, created by the company, which are bigger and have more crisp.
“Eterna have a good taste and are always big fruits. When we picked up this one, there were at least 20 others,” said the person who picked it up.
The company was very enthusiastic about having the record because there will always be the potential to have a bigger version, they said. They will try to improve their agricultural technics.
