The Coquette bow trend is actually inspired by the Coquette fashion trend that all started in the 2020’s. Although it is a pretty recent fashion style, it still is really popular, mostly amongst teens and on social medias. The word coquette means “a young woman that flirts” that is why the fashion trend is mostly associated with bows, pearls, laces, skirts, simple dresses and more. The fashion trend embodies a feminine, girly style but with many accessories to add details the classic outfits. When wearing a “Coquette” outfit, anything you wear matters down to if the details on your socks match the rest of your outfit. What some people don’t know is that there are many different kinds of coquette style.

One of the most popular kinds of coquette is named “dark coquette”. This fashion trend is perfect for people who wanna dress like those coquette influencers on social medias but don’t like to wear bright/pastel colours. The style is basically the same as the mostly known coquette style but in darker colours and it gives off a totally different vibe. Dark dresses, Mary Jane shoes and Vivienne Westwood jewelry are really common in dark coquette outfits on social medias but you do not have to own those items to create a dark coquette outfit, you can always find cheaper alternatives. Fun fact; a lot of people associate this style with celebrities like Lana Del Rey because they tend to wear these kind of clothes and accessories and it has become a trend to call Lana the coquette “it girl”.
