For the first time at La Camaradière, a basketball player is recruited by a college league.
Jacob Denis is the perfect example to prove that you should never give up. Basketball was included in his life at the beginning of secondary 4. That being said, he had to give his all, day and night as he was trying to reach the next level. Even after being sidelined for ten weeks due to a jumper’s knee from overtraining, he still proved his capacities. He had to sit on the bench at every game but he still made his way up.
He was recruited by the Limoilou ‘s coach who first reached out to his mentor and then showed up to two of his games. “It was a crazy feeling knowing there were scouts for you”, affirmed Jacob. Some of the players from Limoilou came to watch him as well, talked to him, and invited him to practice with them.
After he received the news, he said: “I’m very excited for the next chapter but there is a lot of work to be done”. Even though he has a lot of pressure on his shoulders, he’ll definitely prove to his new coaches that they made the right decision by including him in their team. In parallel, he will have to work hard in his new program, Tremplin Dec, to explore different pathways that are accessible to him.
The best advice Jacob would give if you want to get recruited by a collegial team is: “Be out there”. But what does this mean? You have to practice a lot, play in civil leagues, enter recruiting camps, talk to people, and do your best.
The great player doesn’t see himself playing pro, but as he said, “You never know, maybe I will meet somebody or a door will open up. As for now, I plan to play as long as I’m on the school’s benches”.
Jacob wanted to tell everybody to keep an eye on Marko Milosevic. He’s got a bright future ahead of him, and he will dominate the league.
