On Friday March 29th, Beyoncé dropped her new album: “Cowboy Carter: Act II”. With a total of 27 tracks, Beyoncé’s 1 hr 18 min album has made history in less than a month.
Spotify announced on social media, that the day the album dropped, it became the platform’s most-streamed album in a single day in 2024 so far. The album also won the title of “most first-day streams of a country album by a female artist” on Amazon Music.
Her new album was announced in a commercial during the 2024 Super Bowl. Shortly after the ad went live, she confirmed the release date on her Instagram. On the same day as the Super Bowl, the singer dropped two country songs from Act II: “Texas Hold ‘Em” and “16 Carriages”.
Some people were confused when they heard that her album would be a country-themed one, but approved when they heard it for the first time. “It’s not a country album, it’s a Beyoncé album”, said some fans on TikTok.
From Opera to rap, she did not disappoint her fans with the originality of her album. “Cowboy Carter” contains a cover of Dolly Parton’s song: “Jolene”, one of the Beatles’ “Blackbird”, and one of Chuck Berry’s “Oh Louisiana.”
On the other hand, some old fans are disappointed. ” I think it’s a great album, but it’s surely not her best one. Pop and rap suited her more.”, said Charlie, a student from the Camaradiant who used to be a Beyoncé fan.
Overall, this album created a lot of opinions, but most of them were positive and the majority of the songs are all over social media.
