The best golfer in the world has been arrested and was detained on May 17th in Louisville, Kentucky.
The golfer Scottie Scheffler was supposed to go to the second round of the championship of the Professional Golfer’s Association (PGA). However, as he was making his way to the golf club of Valhalla, he failed to comply with the law. A police officer was there to guide the traffic since sooner in the morning, a bus struck a pedestrian to death. Scottie Scheffler didn’t follow the instructions and continued to the club ignoring the cops. According to Jeff Darlington, a journalist from the ESPN’s network, it was an interpretation problem.
Afterwards, the police, named Bryan Gillis tried to catch the car which eventually stopped. The agent screamed to the golfer to get out of the car, Mr. Scheffler directly obeyed and the police handcuffed him on the spot.
Later, on the police report, the agent Bryan Gillis appeared injured as he tried to catch the culprit. According to witnesses, the golfer drove faster at first and wasn’t listening to the commandments so, he was dragged on the ground.
Two hours after the arrest, four serious counts were dropped, assault on a police officer, dangerous conduct, refusal to obey an officer, and criminal mischief.
As a result, the championship of the PGA started 80 minutes late in the morning and when Scottie Scheffler arrived at the golf club, the journalists rushed towards him.
“The scene was chaotic with the accident that took place. There was a big misunderstanding with the instructions I was given. I never intended to ignore them. I’m confident that I’ll be able to put that aside and concentrate on golf today. Of course, our deepest condolences go out to the family of the man who died earlier this morning. Events like this put things into perspective,” said the golfer when he arrived at the club.
He finally went to play the second round and it turns out that he did great.
