On November 22, in Laverdière, Rawdon, a pie shop named “Création Madeleine” caught in flames “It was a pie shop that was engulfed in flames. The damage was extensive, but no one was injured”, said an SQ spokesperson. “As the fire could be of suspicious origin, an investigator and a fire technician were on site to analyse the scene.” The firefighters calmed the fire down quickly.
The next day at exactly 23h45, firefighters were called for another fire on the same street. This time it was the Garage Mécanique EGL de Rawndon that was on fire. At the first arson, no one was injured and the fire was calmed down quickly. “The fire was quickly brought under control. There is information that leads us to believe that it is a suspicious fire,” said SQ spokesperson, Élisabeth Marquis.
According to the police, the suspect was last seen wearing a black coat with a white hoodie underneath, a black balaclava, black pants, and black sports shoes with white soles. Investigators don’t have more information but they are actively searching for the suspect.
During the two fires, the suspect would have “smashed a window and poured gasoline inside before igniting an object and throwing it into the building,” said the SQ.
Any information that could help locate the suspect can be communicated, confidentially, to the SQ Criminal Information Center at 1 800 659-4264.
