Legendary car designer, Adrian Newey will be joining Aston Martin for the Formula 1, 2025 season.
After 19 years with Red Bull, Newey announced that he would join Aston Martin as a Managing Technical Partner for a minimum of 5 years, starting on March 1st, 2025.
The famous engineer started his career in the early 80s, and gained many titles since then. Aerodynamicist, automotive designer and motorsport executive, Newey never fails to impress.
Known as one of the greatest in his field, his designs have won 12 World Constructors’ Championship titles and 222 Grands Prix between 1991 and 2024.
The importance of aerodynamics and engine in f1 is what makes the difference. With each car getting redesigned each year according to new specifications and Adrian Newey leaving, Red Bull won’t ever be the same. The chances for them to win again next year’s Championship are extremely not likely, even though some fans do not agree with this statement.
Helmut Marko, former racing driver and leader of Red Bull Racing, believes the main reason of Newey’s departure is the passing of Red Bull owner, Dietrich Mateschitz, in October 2022.
“The company and everything else has to be set up differently, because you can’t find another individual like that and he can’t be replaced by just one person. That can also be part of the change.” Indeed, Newey seemed to have a hard time accepting the differences in the company.
“I think that was the main reason for Newey’s decision to look for a new challenge.” he confessed.
Many teams reached out to the designer in hope to have him helping next year but Newey had a preference for Aston Martin.
“I was very flattered to have a lot of approaches from various teams, but really Lawrences’ passion, commitment and enthusiasm was very endearing.” Adrian announced, talking about Aston Martin’s owner.
The ecurie is very eager to work with the famous engineer. The team is composed by Fernando Alonso, from Spain, and Lance Stroll who is from Montreal. Could the season of 2025 be glorious for the Canadian driver?
For now four years in a row, Max Verstappen as been glorious and won Championships. Without Adrian Newey by his side, will Max Verstappen win again next year?
