The new part of the school stimulates a lot of reactions from people. A lot of good comments about it have been heard but the most striking would be the big windows all around the modular, such as in the classes, in the washrooms and in the teacher’s room.
The benefit of it, is that the windows can open to have some fresh air. There is also so much more natural light so it feels less trapped than in the school, and the view is way more stimulating than a beige wall.
It still smells like fresh paint, and all the walls are white which makes it look clean. Because everything is new, everything is much cleaner, especially the bathrooms.
The corridors are larger, so it makes it easier to circulate, and the classrooms are bigger which give a lot more place for students.
The temperature is acceptable in winter, but in summer the temparture is really hot and it is difficult for students to concentrate properly. It’s is however better there than in the old part, because in the school, the temperature unstable.
A student testified the following sentence to show how she liked the modular, “I prefer to be in the modular because everything is new and there is a lot of natural light” said Éliane Bégin, a student of the school.
It’s also a different environment from the school. It’s very modern and it’s a change from the old decor we usually see.
The modular is related to the school by a gateway, which make it longer to go to your classes there. This is why the school decided that they would add 5 minutes to the break. This can be an advantage and disadvantage.
The break is longer but it also takes too long to go there. Some people think it’s either too light, too white or boring because there is no color. The corridors are very large but the stairs are the exact opposite. They are the third of the school stairs, so when the bell rings and everyone gets down it creates a traffic jam of people.
In summertime, the modular are super hot because there is no air conditioner. “At the beginning of the year it was so hot in the modular but know that the air is cooler the temperature is getting better” a student of the modular confirmed.
The biggest problem about the new part of the school is the fire alarm doesn’t ring. If ever there was a fire, it would be really dangerous for the students and the teachers in the modular. A lot of person are trying to work on it to prevent a event like this to happen. Opinions are different for each person and even with all these inconvenience, the modular is still a sucsess.
