The new part of the school stimulates many reactions from people. Many good comments about it have been heard, but the most striking are the big windows all around the modular, such as in the classes, washrooms, and teacher’s rooms.
The benefit is that the windows can open for some fresh air. There is also so much more natural light, so it feels less trapped than in the school, and the view is way more stimulating than a beige wall.
It still smells like fresh paint, and all the walls are white which makes it look clean. Because everything is new, everything is much cleaner, especially the bathrooms.
The corridors are larger, making it easier to circulate, and the classrooms are bigger, giving students a lot more space.
The temperature is acceptable in winter, but in summer, it is really hot, and it is difficult for students to concentrate properly. However, it’s better there than in the old part because the temperature is unstable in the school.
A student testified the following sentence to show how she liked the modular, “I prefer to be in the modular because everything is new and there is a lot of natural light” said Éliane Bégin, a school student.
It’s also a different environment from the school. It’s very modern and it’s a change from the old decor we usually see.
The modular is connected to the school by a gateway, which makes it longer to go to classes there. This is why the school decided to add 5 minutes to the break. This can be an advantage and a disadvantage.
The break is longer, but it also takes too long to get there. Some people think it’s either too light, white, or boring because there is no color. The corridors are extensive, but the stairs are the exact opposite. They are the third of the school stairs, so when the bell rings, and everyone gets down, it creates a traffic jam.
In summertime, the modular is super hot because there is no air conditioner. “At the beginning of the year, it was so hot in the modular, but now that the air is cooler, the temperature is getting better,” a student of the modular confirmed.
The biggest problem about the new part of the school is the fire alarm doesn’t ring. If there is ever a fire, it would be really dangerous for the students and the teachers in the modular. A lot of people are trying to work on it to prevent an event like this from happening. Opinions are different for each person, and even with all these inconveniences, the modular is still a success.
