For years, Northern India has been cursed with dangerously high levels of air pollution. Toxic gases have been released into the atmosphere by cars, factories, planes, and, notably dust and construction activities, which together make up for 45% of the total pollution in India.
The impact is so severe that air pollution now contributes to a quarter of global deaths in India, claiming around 16 million lives each years. If these environmental issues aren’t taken care of, the situation will only worsen, continuing to harm citizens and create public health concerns.
“Morning walk usually feels good, but now the air is polluted and we’re forced to wear a mask.… There is a burning sensation in the eyes and slight difficulty in breathing,”Akshay Pathak explained to ANI new agency.
According to IQAir, Delhi, India has an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 500, which is significantly higher than the safe limit. In comparison, Quebec, Canada currently has an AQI of 17, which is wide within the acceptable range.
Air pollution is a major threat to India’s health, causing serious issues like asthma, bronchitis, heart problems, and even lung cancer. The tiny particles in polluted air can damage lungs and enter the bloodstream, leading to long-term harm. Children, whose lungs are still growing, and the elderly, with a much weaker immune systems are at risk.
It’s clear that we urgently need to help India’s clean air, to protect their health and their future.
A lot of idea may contribute to this path of thought. For instance, we could reduce truck circulation within the capital,Delhi or just instore more public tranportation to help control air pollution.
