The popular Quebec book fair started on April 9th and finished on April 13th, 2025. There were over 177,000 visitors in only five days. This event took place at the Centre des Congrès at the Palais Montcalme (26 rue Saint-Pierre, Quebec, QC). It is notable that the event attracted many Canadian families all over the province of Quebec.
The government of the city gave 172 000 $ to the International Quebec’s Book Fair as funding. The price to enter was 4$ for kids under 13th years old and for adults, 9$ on Thursday and Friday, and 11$ on Saturday and Sunday.
The popular Janette Bertrand was there and celebrated her 100th birthday. She has been interviewed by the journalist Alicia Rochevrier. Host, actress, and writer Janette Bertrand has left her mark on Quebec.
Here are some prices that were given over the weekend. In the category adults litterature , it is the book of Virginie De Champlain, “Avant de brûler” by the house of edition “La Peuplade”. The jury said: “The beauty of the words, the depth of the horizons, the incandescent heat of a fire buzzing in the forest floor prevent us from putting the book down, gripped until the last sentence. The overwhelming anticipation of this ending sustains hope thanks to the way these luminous beings perceive things. A book to read and reread.”
Also, in another category, the youth one, Catherine Ferland, who made the book “Guillemette” by “Méga Éditions” was elected. “Guillemette’s adventure transformed into a historical saga is captivating. Offering young people a historical book in the form of an illustrated novel opens the door to the joy of learning a little more about colonization, a pivotal moment in our society.”, said the judges.
Every winners of the weekend was given a purse of 5000$ and 500$ to each finalists by the host. Each winners are interviewed afterwards.
