Ms. Isabelle Papillon, who has been teaching at La Camaradière High School for over 21 years, is a well-respected teacher by many students whom she used to teach. Her unique teaching style makes her stand out among many other teachers. Indeed, at the beginning of every class, she welcomes her students with a sincere smile and a hello for each one to brighten their day. She also gives out candies on special occasions, which earned her the nickname “la reine des bonbons” at her old school, to all of her students. For example, she would give out candies at Christmas, Easter, Halloween, etc.
When it comes to teaching math, she would never make it boring because she always knew how to incorporate real-life experiences into lessons to capture everyone’s attention.
On the other hand, if she sees that a student hasn’t completely understood the subject, she will either meet with him at break time to provide a brief explanation to help him understand, or she will try to explain the subject in another way during the next class.
She was told many times when she would see her students at La Galerie de la Capitale that she looks the same in class and out of it. This demonstrates that she consistently remains authentic with everyone, especially her students.
All these characteristics come from her love for teaching. Ms. Papillon used to help her siblings and friends at home for their homework. Since secondary three, she has had the aspiration of pursuing a career in the teaching profession.
Miss Papillon is probably one of the few teachers who considers the arrival of technology in the classroom as a good thing for students. She thought that back then, without technology, it was challenging to copy all the text on the board, and students had more difficulty following and understanding in class. However, now she can highlight what she wants and all the texts are already recorded on the board.
