For the first time at La Camaradière High School, students can be exempted from their final exams. This new approach aims to push the students to work harder throughout the year. This offers them the privilege of not doing their final exam, which can be more challenging.
However, there are some requirements you must meet to be exempt. First, students need to be present for all their classes and must have reasonable and respectful behavior towards their teachers. Secondly, students must have a good average in the classes affected by the exemption. For example, in secondary three, a student must have at least an 85% average in French, Math, and History, and a 90% average in Science.
If a student meets the requirements for the exemption, the corresponding teacher will hand them a paper that can only be signed by their parents to agree to the exemption. Of course, your parents can still refuse the exemption if they prefer that their kid take the final exams.
This may be understandable because the exemption can lead to advantages and disadvantages for the student. For example, it encourages students to maintain a constant effort throughout the year rather than trying to cram everything for the final test. This leads to higher grades and better learning.
However, a student may prefer to work hard throughout the year to make sure that he is exempted from the exam and will choose to do the strict minimum at the end of it because he assumes that he has already reached the requirements for the exemption. These will lead to making the students lazy and may affect their learning for the next year.
