Fallout 4 Expansion Plans
April 7, 2016
On February 16th, Bethesda Studios, the developers of Fallout 4, have released their plan to support the game for the coming months. Three different expansion packs will be released over as many months.
The first expansion, named «Automatron», has been released on March 22. It features a mysterious Mechanist who has unleashed an army of robots in the Commonwealth. You need to take these robots down to scavenge anything useful they might have, and then build your own robotic companion. These synthetic followers are extremely customizable: you can equip them with new weapons, such as a minigun, various armor pieces, paint schemes and even voice packs. Todd Howard from Bethesda describes Automatron as the Fallout equivalent of a Pokemon game.
The second expansion, «Wasteland Workshop», is scheduled to be released on April 12. This add-on focuses on new features about the settlement mode. Wasteland Workshop allows to capture creatures such as the dangerous Deathclaw or the weak Radroach. These animals can then either be tamed or released in an arena to fight other captured enemies or even settlers. Also, this add-on includes new items such as nixie tube lighting, taxidermied animals and painting kits.
The third and biggest Fallout 4 expansion announced is called «Far Harbor». This upgrade takes place on an island located near the coast of Maine. On this island, the abundance of radiation has created an uncanny and dangerous environment. Far Harbor will include new settlements, higher level creatures and new, more advanced equipment. This expansion is planned to be on the shelves in May 2016.
Along with these news, Bethesda studios has increased the Season Pass price to $49,99 USD, whereas it used to cost $29,99 until March 1rst. Also, a revamp for Fallout 4’s «Survival» difficulty is coming. The revamp adds diseases, the need to sleep on a frequent basis and other dangers. The current effects of Survival mode will be also part of the revamped version of the difficulty mode.
