Perfect bodies

Perfect+bodies

Girls are constantly lowering their self-esteem by saying that they are not as pretty as the girls in magazines. Is there too much pressure on girls to have perfect bodies? Yes for sure, because of all the bad models we see everywhere, the pressure we put on ourselves and health dangers.

There are too much bad influence on television, magazines and posters. Stores are the principal reason of girls worrying about their body image like Abercrombie and Fitch. They never wanted overweight people to wear their clothes. In their shirts there are no large size and a size 10 in their pants. They create clothes based on models that are almost anorexic and they don’t realize that there are other girls that are curvy.

Being skinny is in fact more dangerous to one’s health than carrying little excess weight. Risks associated with being underweight include anemia, nutritional deficiencies, osteoporosis, cardiac problems, increased susceptibility to illness and infection and poor wound healing. Some people also develop eating disorders like anorexia or bulimia. These people are not healthy and most people would agree that very underweight people aren’t very attractive. It’s better to be a little bit more curvy than to be too skinny.

““I think being a woman in this society, it’s sort of impossible to not be aware of the pressures there are around appearance, around weight, around trying to always look a certain way,” Ms. Levine said(Hartocollis “City Unveils Campaign” a popular foundation to improve girls self-esteem). As girls we always want to be like the other girls. I think it’s wrong for people to just lower themselves to fit a current social standard. Instead of trying to be like everyone else we should focus on who we want to be. Girls that have a low self-esteem don’t want to stand out compared to their friends.

Everyone is beautiful in their own way, so keep that in mind next time you get upset or uncomfortable just because you think you don’t look good.
