Each year, in Canada, the government gives grants to schools around the country to help the education system, but this is the good thing to do ? The fact is that in Finland, they have the best education system and they spend less money for each student that we do in Canada. So, should we have a better education system  ? This text will cover the success of Finnish schools, the problem with our education system and finally some things than we can do to evolve the education system. Example ; health problems, problems at school…

The success of Finland’school is due to their revolutionnary education system. Their system is to target on teaching kids that school is a fun place where they can have fun and learn at the same time. They don’t focus on grade and on performance as we do here in Québec. It’s meanly because of their system that we are classing them on the top ten of the best education system on the worlds. Their secret? No homework, no long day in the classroom and more fun.They give kids a kids life, which mean they want to see childrens outside playing together and having fun. Here is an example; the primary school in Finland, keep there kids in class only three hours on Monday, four hours on Tuesday and never more than five hours a day for the rest of the week. And, they are on the top ten of the best education system on the world. When the aren’t in class, they are outside having fun with their friends, moving and spending energy. Studies have been done to show that physical activity secrete a hormone that create a relaxing-mode-. This is benefict to a good learning. So, we can easily do the link between the beneficts of physical activities and result at school.

More and more kids are overweight or are diagnosticat with a health problem. Many of these desease could have been avoid if they had done more physical activity. Logically, it should be the resposability of the school to teach our kids to have an active and healty life, because kids are passing most of their time there. But, many school disagree with this and say that it should be the parents’s job. Here is the probleme. Some parents are already active and their kids have the chance to take part of this lifestyle. But, for the rest of the parent that didn’t have the chance to learn how to have a active and healty life would probably not be able to teach there kids something they don’t know. Punishing the kid by saying that it is their parent’s fault wouldn’t help them. The minister of the education should put a regulation that every kids must have a minimum of an hour ,at lease 3 times a week, in the morning of physical education of intensity medium to high. Plus, doing physical exercise, on a basic base, will reduce the risk of many desease. Example; a person who is physicly active reduce his chance of 80% suffer from cardiovascular diseases.

Also, on a healthy and active life, their is the alimentation. Being active is great but active doesn’t automaticly mean that you are living a healthy life. Your alimentation is doing a real big part on your health. It’s what giving you energie. It is also playing a big part on your mood and on how you feel. They should, for primary school do some activities of sensibilization of wich food to eat and on the portions. For the secondary school, they sould have in secondary one and two, a certain numbers of periods on a years that would be use to gave students more specific indications about alimentation. They could ask the help of a nutritionist to explain the composition of some food or the utility of them. Moreover, with a healthy and active life, it helps to stay focused in class and to get better grade in test.

In conclusion, I think that we could have better school and education system than in Finland because we just need help from government to evolve our education system. Also, the Canadian schools need to reduce the time in class per day and increase the time of physical activity. I hope that one day, the education system in Canada will be the better education system all around the world.
