A New Arena in Town

A New Arena in Town

In April 2016, Simon Gagné and his partners bought the old arena of Loretteville to renovate it.

Simon Gagné, a retired player of the National Hockey League, his partners, Éric Alarie, and the Groleau brothers Samuel and Jean-Francois, invested 8 millions to revitalize the old arena. The project itself covered everything from the exterior to the showers. The arena now has a complete new look.

The building, located at the 86 boulevard des Étudiants, cost 1,74 million to the group of investors. The renovations themselves cost an additional eight million. All of this came to a total price of 9,74 million dollars. The Loretteville coliseum is a tribute to the old Colisée Pepsi because the face is really similar to the home of the former Nordiques. “It’s gonna be beautiful”, says Nathan Durand, hockey player from the city of Quebec.

The project to renovate the outdated ice rink started in April 2016 and is not finished yet. The workers are now finishing the outside of the venture. Players from all over the province of Québec should be able to test this new coliseum in the weeks to come.

Since ice time is an issue nowadays, the city of Quebec signed a contract with the owners to have 1640 hours of rental for the next ten years. This agreement includes 100 hours for the citizens during summer time. Ice skating fans can use the arena from 4:30 pm to 10 pm during the week and from 10 am to 10 pm during the weekends.
