Quebec’s government has planned to invest more than $100 million dollars in the education system by  2016-2017.Education is one of the main priority of our government. They invest more than $17 billion dollars in elementary schools, high schools, colleges and universities.

An investment of $80 millions this years is made to support school success. With this investment, it’s now possible to add more than 800 new jobs in the education system. More than 600 jobs will be for teachers. With this money, three objectives are targeted: Act sooner to address learning difficulties, reduce the dropout rate in schools and helping local communities in difficulty. Quebec Finance Minister Carlos Leitão affirmed that the government will invest an additional $20 million in the education system before the end of this fiscal year, he also confirmed that this money will be for the front lines services like resolving crisis, overcoming trauma and ending homelessness.  However, these measures are not for the salary increases. The money will help for different situations. Add resources in schools to prevent learning difficulties in reading and writing for students in preschool and elementary. It will accelerate the implementation of full time kindergarten in disadvantaged neighborhoods. It also aims at making individualized assistance programs available in mathematics, science, English or French. Another priority will be to support students with special needs and disabilities in colleges, promote the integration into regular classes of students with learning difficulties and adaptations. Finally, it will contribute to the vitality of villages by increasing the number of teachers in schools. Those are the only information transmitted by Miss Anik Lavoie-Bouchard, press agent of Mister François Blais. Further information will be provided as they are released from the Ministry of Education.
