January 12, 2016
Here’s the top 4 most influential artists of 2015 according to charts and articles on Billboard.
1.Adele
Adele is finally back after going on hiatus for 4 years. Her music video “Hello” directed by Xavier Dolan broke a YouTube record by earning 27 million views in the first 24 hours. Her new album “25” is now topping the charts since its release on November 20th.
2.The Weeknd
The Weeknd is indisputably one of the most influential artists this year. In July, he held down all of the top three spots, with “Can’t Feel My Face” at number 1, “The Hills” at number 2 and “Earned It” at number 3 on the Billboard’s Hot R&B Songs. This made him the first artist in the history of that chart to earn this record.
3.Justin Bieber
After a very stormy 2013 and 2014, Justin Bieber decided to make amends in 2015. He started off the year with a collaboration in the successful hit ‘’Where Are Ü Now’’ with Skrillex and Diplo in february. His new album ‘’Purpose’’ was released on November 13th, including the popular tracks ‘’What Do You Mean?’’ and ‘’Sorry’’. He still needs to work on his personality though.
4.Drake
2015 was a big year for Drake. In february, he released his album ‘’If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late’’ which was a huge success and sold more than 495,000 copies in the first three days. Later in fall his single “Hotline Bling” reached number two on the US Billboard Hot 100, becoming Drake’s first top-10 single in two years.
