Enjoying thanksgiving as a free man

After 23 years behind bars, an American was finally freed from prison because of DNA proofs.

Nevest Coleman, 48, an honest citizen was released on Friday by judge Denis Porter according to new evidence. He was sentenced, in 1994, for the murder and the raping of a 2o-year-old woman, Antwinica Bridgeman.

The new DNA test proves that Coleman and his partner Darryl Fulton, who was life sentenced too, weren’t on the crime scene during the atrocity was committed. DNA found under the victim’s fingernails and on her sweatshirt did not match the men serving time for the crime.

“I stayed positive during all the procedures because I knew that I didn’t do this crime”, Coleman said emotionally following the decision of the judge, to the CNN.”I prayed repeatedly, and I remained humble. My family was by my side.”, add Coleman.

He has the goal to meet his granddaughter and celebrate Thanksgiving with his family and friends to make up for lost time.

In 1988 to 2003, about 15 years, there was more than 15 million felony convictions across the USA. In 2014, it was up to 120 000 people behind bars for a crime they didn’t do.
