California’s wildfires continue ravage forests and towns and some needed to leave their houses.

At Paradise, 300 kilometers north of San Francisco, 8800 buildings burned and 130 people were reported missing and a large pourcentage of them are up to 65 years old. Some of the 230 people that were reported missing initially were found in cars or in the ruins of their houses. Authorities think that they didn’t have the time to get into their car early and died because of the thick smoke. On the November 14th, 56 deaths were reported.

Some residents said that the evacuation wasn’t a success. Around the fire, 50 000 people needed to evacuate and Carol Off, a journalist said that even if they had many plans for evacuation, no city could be ready for what happened. She thinks that what happened during the evacuation was normal contrary to many residents.

Distant cities around wildfire zone are also affected by the smoke that fires produced. Smoke reaches regions as far as 100 miles away. Deanna Watson, a young mother, brought her 4 year old son to hospital because he had trouble breathing. Even if doctors didn’t noticed an increasement in patients with breathing issues. Some people say that they see a difference with the air.

On November 17th, Trump tweeted about the wildfires in California:

There is no reason for these massive, deadly and costly forest fires in California except that forest management is so poor. Billions of dollars are given each year, with so many lives lost, all because of gross mismanagement of the forests. Remedy now, or no more Fed payments!” Many people were offended by that quote.

According to climatlogists, those wildfires are linked to climate change. The 15 biggest wildfires happened in the past 18 years. Numbers didn’t stop to increase like the days of wildfire and the temperature. “It is unfortunately totally clear that such events will likely increase with unabated climate change,” says Kirsten Thonicke, a wildfire expert. Many expert like her agree with this informations.
