The way we dress is a form of expression. A lot of people associate a good sense of style with wealth but is it possible to look trendy without spending a lot of money and hurting the environment?

Looking trendy on a budget is really easy. How? Thrifting is a good solution because it’s usually cheaper and better for the environment than fast fashion.

Thrifting means to go shopping at a thrift store, garage sale, or flea market where you’ll find gently used items at discounted prices. Thrifted items have been loved by a previous owner, but are usually in good shape with enough life left to be useful to a new owner. (definition from google)

There are many thrift stores such as Value Village, Renaissance, Salvation Army and many more but there are also online thrift stores like Depop, Poshmark and ThredUp. You can also thrift shop by going to garage sales and flea markets or looking on Facebook Marketplace.

First, to look trendy this spring you will need to search for pastel and sorbet colours. Raspberry pink, tangerine orange, illuminating yellow, french blue and sage green will also make their apparition. Brown will also be a trendy colour for the spring.

Argyle and psychedelic patterns will be everywhere. Like every spring, flower print will be a must but more specifically hawaiian flower this season. As for fabrics, satin and faux leather is what you need. Mesh top will also remake their apparition.

We will see a lot of statements and funky tops throughout the spring. Baby tees, bralette tops, keyhole tops, fur trim jackets and sweater vest will be really popular. To elegate your look, blazers, puffed sleeves tops and satin tops are good options. We will also find argyle sweaters, cut out tops and pattern mesh tops everywhere.

As for pants, baggy is the fit you need to look for. Wide leg pants, straight leg pants, flared and micro flared pants will be a must. We will also see a lot of statement pants such as animal print pants or shimmer pants. Mini and maxi skirts will also be seen a lot throughout spring and summer.

White shoes will be a thing this season, more specifically white chunky boots and white sneakers. Knee boots and heeled flip-flops will remake their appearance and colorful strappy heels will be the new go to shoes of the season.

Accessories can transform your whole outfit and make a difference. Shoulder bags, headbands, head scarfs and beaded necklace will still be a trend this spring but so will coloured lens sunglasses and chunky colourful rings be. Yellow bags and blue accessories will be the thing for this season.

Everything named in this article can be found at a thrift store or can be made at home. Sometimes you need to modify things you find at thrift stores to like them and remember that it takes time to find good things. If you don’t want to buy used items you can also look trendy by buying from small local business but it is more expensive.
