Endless Fights for Love Rights

Endless Fights for Love Rights

Raphaelle

Even in 2021, more than 92 countries are still against gay rights and they banish any LGBTQ+ related activities.

The LGBTQ+ community’s rights are valid and unpunished in many countries. Sadly, some countries are still punishing gays and transgenders because of their sexual orientation or their gender expression. This highly affects society.

The punishments given by Non-LGBTQ friendly countries can go from imprisonment to torture and even the death penalty. Most of the countries where gay rights are prohibited are in Africa and south-est Asia.  There are many reasons why it’s illegal. Most countries are prohibiting gay and trans rights because its against nature. It’s also because of religions. In rare cases, it’s governmental issues or the population is homophobic and transphobic. Surprisingly, some laws were created a long time ago(colonial time) making it difficult to delete them from today’s world.

A good example of a fight for gays rights would be the India global fight for LGBTQ+ rights, in September 2019. India has a lot of different religions and rights, making it even more difficult to be accepted by everyone. What is surprising is that  the supreme court took down a colonial-era law against same-sex relations. This inspired many people and LGBTQ+ activists from all around the world to fight for their rights, creating large parades and revolutions.

People are fighting for their rights every day. More than 62 countries are LGBTQ+ friendly and most of them are in North America. If we take the example of a good LGBTQ-friendly country, Canada is the 1st one in the rank. Then comes Spain, Denmark and the UK. The Pew research center made a survey. They asked people if they should accept same-sex marriage and same-sex relationships. In Canada, 85% said they should be accepted by society. In other countries, like Indonesia, only 9% of the society said they should accept the LGBTQ community. In Nigeria, it’s only 7%.

This shows that the world needs to change there mindset and let people love whoever they want.
