The city council abandoned the idea of destroying the coliseum after being closed for 6 years.

Because they wanted to make the demolition cleaner for the city the price had doubled. it was supposed to be 8 million and now it’s 17 million dollars. If they take the less costly one it would propagate lead from the paint.

Because of that, the old Maire took the decision to give the Colisee Pepsi to the youth and growing sport. It would cost between 35 and 40 million dollars, five times the price of the demolition by dynamite. It would welcome many sports like Interieur climbing, skate park sports, and acrobatic sports. The X Cite could have competition.

“People want to keep the coliseum.“ said old Maire Labaume

Currently, the coliseum has 1,500m2 indoor and with the reparation, we would have 2,659m2 and 5,000m2 outside for activities. they would also make the outside greenery.

In Montreal, they have a giant indoor skatepark of 7900m2 that cost 12 million $. It gives them the opportunity to practice their favorite sports in winter.

In recent years sports like skating or climbing have grown in popularity. Skateboarding has even joined the Olympics in 2020 with a total of  26 nationalities participating.
