In a few days, the Olympic Games are going to start and they will occur in Beijing.

Normally, we have Olympics each two years, but because of Covid-19 the last summer Olympics were supposed to be in 2020, but they were reported to be in summer 2021 instead. Because of that, even if we had this summer Olympics, we will have some this winter too.      

Some people think that they should cancel it for this year too because of Omicron and that it’s not safe for the athletes and everyone that will be there this winter, even if most athletes really want to go, because they say that they are prepared for it and they take the risk even if Covid-19 isn’t the ideal thing for the Olympics. For now, it’s almost impossible that they cancel it.

For the winter Olympics, there are a lot of sports like hockey, bobsleigh, curling, alpine skiing, luge and speed skating. In total, Canada won 199 medals at the Olympic Winter Games including 73 gold medals, 64 silver medals and 62 bronze medals. After this winter, we will pass the 200 medals in Canada.   

In conclusion, Canadiens wish good luck to our Canadian athletes and we hope that they will win a lot of new medals.
