On March 4th, a young NBA star, Ja Morant, was suspended for a period of 8 games due to his irresponsible act in a nightclub in the Glendale, Colorado area.

 

This night Ja Morant, a 23- years- old NBA player who plays for the Memphis Grizzlies headed to a nightclub. The evening passed by and Ja decided to start a live broadcast on Instagram. During the live, the NBA star didn’t seem to be himself he talked in an incoherent voice, and all of a sudden he pulled a gun. In less than an hour Ja Morant’s actions got leaked on every social platforms by images small videos etc… Following that, the police department opened an investigation, but no charges could be brought against Morant.

The next day, the NBA league conducted a consolidation and with all the information they could gather about last night’s event, they could not say the gun was in his name. He was asked to participate in an interview with ESPN, and during the interview, he said ”It’s not my style, it’s not part of my values. I accept all the consequences of my actions. I made a big mistake.” The NBA commissioner also said, “Ja’s behavior was irresponsible, reckless, and potentially very dangerous.”

Ja wasn’t aware of the consequences for his audience and influence, especially among his young supporters. The young fans wouldn’t see Morant the same anymore and were disappointed in him. Ja expressed sincere remorse for his behavior and said he has learned from the incident and understands that his obligations and responsibility to the Memphis Grizzlies and the NBA community are important.

After all that, the Memphis Grizzlies suspended Morant. He missed five games and he will soon be back on Monday, playing his first game against Dallas Mavericks. He will now be for sure leading a secure and wise career as an NBA player.
