Tsai Ing-Wen, president of Taiwan visited the United States on March 29 to build a stronger friendship between the two nations.

The goal of this trip through the United States and a part of Central America was to prove that Taiwan has strong allies who are ready to help against a potential conflict with China. Mrs. Tsai met Kevin McCarthy, speaker of the House of Representatives in Los Angeles, California. “Our two nations are very close allies and we’ll maintain a good relationship for a long time!” said the only female president in Asia. Mr. McCarthy said that he was completely in agreement. As his trip continued, shin visited Belize and Guatemala, two of the 13 countries that maintain relations with the island.

Of course, Beijing could not accept that “offense”. Xi Jinping said only a few hours after there will be a fight back against this threat from the island. China restarts to enter the Taiwanese Sea and air with planes, ships, and missiles. The paramount leader of China also succeeded in preventing the visit of his enemy in Tegucigalpa, Honduras where the Taiwanese embassy closed its doors.

A century ago, Taiwan was called the Republic of China and dominated all the actual Chinese territory, but a civil war began between the communist and the government. As if it was not enough, the Japanese invaded the unstable country at the beginning of World War Two. The civil war started again, and the Communist party forced the people of the republic to escape to the Island of Formosa, where they gradually became Taiwan. The People’s Republic of China or PRC never accepted the independence of the island and never stopped repressing the second most democratic country in Asia.

Mrs. Tsai was born in the little city of Fangshan in 1956 and first became a lawyer. In 2006, she became vice-president of the Republic of Taiwan before becoming the first female leader in 2016. She got re-elected with a big majority in 2020.
