A lot of people went to pay a last tribute to Maureen Breau, killed on March 27th in Louiseville.

The walk of 3 kilometers organised by the Sûreté du Québec ended at the sanctuary basilica in Cap-de-la-Madeleine, in Trois-Rivières. Some cops were on horses, others on motorcycles, others were walking. We could ear the singing of Hallelujah. The sound of drums and bagpipes could also be heard from afar.

The 42 year old mother that was doing extra time was stabbed as she intervened with a dangerous 35 year old man. The man was known by the authorities, since he had mental issues. He also got killed during the intervention. Since then, a public investigation was opened to know what happened. “She made the exceptional choice of being to the services of the citizens. Agent of peace, is a dangerous job,” said Geneviève Guilbault.

“Your death must not be in vain,” said Jacques Painchaud, president of the Association of the provincial police officers of Quebec. He also created a petition on the violence of the mental illnesses to protect other people that could be attacked like Maureen did.
