Crankworx isfour-stop tour of mountain biking competitions and races. This 2023 World Tour will be travelling to Rotorua, Cairns, Innsbruck, and Whistler. Cairns is the second destination of the tour, and the riders will be there from May 17 to May 21.

Cairns is the most famous and popular city in Australia for mountain biking. It is located in “Far North Queensland among the rainforests and right near the stunning Great Barrier Reef,” as Wikipedia mentions.

On May 17 to 21, there will be about 40 competitors in total. The athletes have been training on Tuesday May 16 for the following day’s Pump Track Qualification runs. Pump track is “a circuit of rollers, banked turns and jumps that loops back on itself. The circuit is ridden by the momentum of ‘pumping’ on the bike instead of regular pedalling,” mentions the website parkitect.ch. Then, from 3:00 pm to 3:45 pm, there will be Pump Track pro Qualification runs, and from 3:45 pm to  5:00 pm, The Official Australian Whip-Off Championships will take place.

After Innsbruck, Crankworx will eventualy end up in Whistler where our 4 Canadians will be competing, including Brandon Semenuk. He is a 32 yeras old “Canadian freeride moutain biker and rally racer from Whistler, British Columbia.” says his Wikipedia page. Brandon got into mountain biking at a very young age, since his older brother got him into the sport when Semenuk was only six years old. Also, by the age of nine, he started entering cross-country races on the BC circuit. Brandon Semenuk is actually one of the most talented Canadian bikers in the world. He is a five-time Red bull Joyride winner. He also won X-games real MTB gold medalist in 2021 and much more!
