Disney Ruining it’s Classics?

Disney+Ruining+its+Classics%3F

Since 2015, Disney has produced remakes of their popular classic animated movies, leading to various opinions.

Lately, Disney, a well-known company, has dropped many live-action remakes of popular animated movies, including actors and details that are different from the original form of movies like The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, or The Beauty And The Beast. Other Remakes of animated movies like Snow White, Hercules, Tangled, and even Princess And The Frog are being worked on at the moment. Unfortunately, it is not everyone that feels good about these changes.

The movie with the most criticism is probably the remake of The Little Mermaid with Halle Bailey and Jonah Hauer-King because Ariel (Halle Bailey) is a black woman. In the original movie, Ariel is a white girl with red hair.  On one hand, some people were really happy because, for the first time, Disney created a live-action with black actors even though it wasn’t like this originally. On the other hand, some people were disappointed that Disney did not respect the original movie. “It’s not a question of racism, it’s a question of nostalgia or modernity,” declared Hubert.

Before live-actions were invented, Disney made a lot of animated princess movies. Those princesses all had the same perfect hourglass body and flawless face. Many young girls were comparing themselves to those princesses and Disney continued making them this way even though they knew this body wasn’t real. Disney’s values are to entertain, inspire, inform, and make each person feel seen, heard and understood. According to those values, we can see that Disney didn’t respect them in most of their old movies.”We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things because we’re curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths” mentioned Walt Disney. The popular company is way more inclusive compared to before but despite all the efforts they put into inclusivity, some people are still mad.
