Immaculate, a Masterpiece or a Kids Scary Story?

Immaculate%2C+a+Masterpiece+or+a+Kids+Scary+Story%3F

Released March 22nd, 2024, featuring the star Sydney Sweeny, Immaculate faces various opinions.

Immaculate is the story of Cecilia, a young woman of faith who is warmly welcomed into a Catholic convent in the Italian countryside. The welcome is cordial but as she starts to acclimate to her new environment, she understands that her new home bears sinister secrets. From there, she’ll try to escape the convent but many inconveniences hold her where the danger is.

Immaculate is a horror movie whose main subject is religion and religious horror is one of the most effective types of horror because the idea of faith being turned into an inescapable nightmare can be very troubling. From one perspective, Immaculate is just another nun movie that relies on the same plots as other religious movies like The Nun, The Conjuring, or even The Exorcist. Critics have said that the movie failed to stand out among others, that the jumpscares were predictable, that it had rhythm problems, and that the director didn’t explore enough the scary side of catholicism.

From another perspective, people have said this movie is one of the best or even the best horror movie they’ve ever seen. On social media, the trend where people film their reactions after seeing the movie Immaculate takes over. Most of those videos are people having no words, that it shocked them, and that they didn’t see the plot coming. ” I enjoyed watching this movie! I think that the actors played well their roles. This story is also full of very interesting plot twists. Overall, the perfect scary movie, one of the best I have watched in a while” declared Arianne.

Overall, this movie created a lot of mixed feelings and it doesn’t seem like it will stop any time soon.
