Messi is an Argentine player who is known as the best soccer player in the world. Therefore, his arrival in Montreal has been creating waves, especially since it’s his first time coming to Canada. His popularity has however been impacting the prices for this game in which Messi will play alongside Inter-Miami against “CF Montreal”.
The costs of a season pass and individual tickets have been increased because of this event. This year, the season pass cost was about 15,000$ and last year it was less than 10,000$. Also, the presale individual ticket was a minimum 450$ and on resale sites, it could reach the amount of 12,000$. During the real sale, the minimum pricing was the same as the one during the presale and the best seats could cost up to 2,999$. Usually, it is 30$ to 50$ maximum. This is a huge difference.
There is also a section called the supporter zone, this is a specific section for supporters who always follow the “CF Montreal”. Even if the stadium is only half-filled, they are attending the games and encouraging the team. This time, they are very disappointed and worried about the cost of their section which is unusual. The price of a ticket in this section is about 518$ to 600$. “But for me, increasing them so much is worrying for supporter groups. In our opinion, money shouldn’t be a barrier to attendance. We clearly have prices that block affordability,” said Jonah Presser the communications director of the “FC Boreal”, an amateur club in the supporter zone. Consequently, some fans have decided to skip their turn and it is unfortunate, some deserve to be present since they are always supporting Montrealers.
Nevertheless, there are some package deals offered. For example, a bundle of six games for 750$, including the one on May 11th, but even this amount is very expensive. Due to prices, some people have decided to pay for a season pass, because it is almost the same cost as an individual ticket. In all scenarios, it is not cheap.
Despite these rates, it is still a chance to see the best soccer player in the world and his popularity might beat the prices.
