The Golden Joystick is a company that gives fans the chance to vote for their favourite game in a category. It could be the best strategy game of the year or even the best soundtrack of the year. It was created in 1983 for computer games and became popular on consoles after 2000.
The ultimate game of the year is Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, which won the vote hands down.
This game is a turn-based role-playing game(RPG) with real-time mechanics like dodging attacks, jumping over heavy blows, and parrying. Sandfall Interactive developed it, which was their first game.
Sandfall is a small team of developers with only 24-33 people and is one of the few French dev teams. The team wants to create many unique 3d single-player games for pc and new-gen consoles. It is interesting to note that a good number of their programmers came from Ubisoft.
Clair Obscure also won 6 other awards, which was a massacre at the Golden Joystick awards.
The game won best storytelling, best soundtrack, and best visual design. They also won the best lead performer for Jennifer English, who voiced Maelle, and the best supporting performer for Ben Starr, who voiced Verso. Also, the studio of the year is Sandfall Interactive, which made the game.
There were also other games to vote for, including Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, an open-world role-playing game (RPG) set during a medieval civil war, a sequel to the previous game Kingdom Come: Deliverance.
There was also the game Split Fiction, a co-op action-adventure game in which two characters are trapped in a simulation of their own story after a tech company tries to steal their ideas.
There was Hollow Knight: Sliksong as well, which is a 2D action-adventure in the metroidvania genre, which continues Hornet’s story, a character from Hollow Knight, and lastly Death Stranding 2: On The Beach, which is an open-world action game where the character is on a mission to reconnect a post-apocalyptic world.
