This announcement wasn’t a complete surprise for fans. It has been expected since October 2025, right after the conclusion of the GUTS world tour, when she claimed in an American Express promo video that she was working on her new album. This affirmation was confirmation for many that she is ready to enter a new era.
The first song on the 13-track record, “drop dead,” has already been released on Apple Music and Spotify.
“I loved listening to drop dead, and I can’t wait to hear the rest of the album!” said a fan.
Olivia’s past two albums were especially famous for their pop and rock sounds, 4 letter titles, and iconic purple covers. For this new music compilation, Olivia intends to do things a little differently. Unlike her other albums, she opted for a more melancholic tone in her songs. The title contains multiple words, and the cover features an image of her upside down on a swing, wearing a pink dress against a blue sky, contrasting yet again with her other records.
In light of this change, fans reacted in all kinds of ways. Some thought Olivia would follow the pattern of her other albums, while others predicted she would take a whole other route. Nonetheless, they are all very excited to see how it will all come to play in the actual music and are counting down the days until the album’s release.
Olivia Rodrigo started her career as a child actress, playing on Disney Channel shows such as Bizaardvark and High School Musical: The Series. In 2021, she pursued her passion for music by releasing her first-ever pop album, SOUR, followed by her second album, GUTS, in 2023, both of which soon became major successes. One thing is for sure: her audience expects nothing less from the record.
