Since some years, a lot of people are buying new exotic pets. Those animals can be 10 meters long and are also able to kill a baby elephant just by strangling him. Maybe the constrictor snakes are beautiful, but having one them in your house can cause you a lot of problem. I think that we should be illegal to have a Boa, an Anaconda or a python in your house  because of their abilities, the way they arrive in our pet shops and of the incidents that happen in the past.

Constrictor snakes: priviledged animals

Pythonidæ and boadiæ are snakes family  that got a lot of advantages that other reptiles doesn’t have. By exemple, like the ability to kill prey only by wrapping their body around the animal to strangle him and stop his bloodstream. The constrictor snakes are able to do this due to the muscle in their body. Also, they have back-curved teeth so if the prey survived by miracle it won’t be able to get out of his mouth because the snakes teeth will enter in his body and will finish him.Third advantages , depending on the animal size, the digestion will take four or five days to a couple of weeks so he won’t have to hunt during this time. Finally, some boas, can stop eating during a maximum of two years.

 Incidents

In the Everglades, the Yellow Anaconda and the Birman Python totally invaded the territory since their arrival in 1979. Because of this, scientist discovered in 2000 that the racoons, opposums,deers and bobcats were almost extinct in Florida. Also, in 2013, a 45 Kilogram African Rock Python killed two boys of five and seven years old. Each year, in Eastern Europe, 30 000 persons are affected of salmonellosis due to the prsence of snakes in their house and 428 other person have been injured by reptile in 2001. Last January, 5 cats have been eaten by a 2.5 meters long Amethystine Python in Queensland, Australia. Every years, hundreds of dogs, horses, livestocks and captive deers are killed due to constrictor snakes.

In conclusion, the incidents like the one that happened in Queensland, Australia, with those snakes and their abilities like their back-curved teeths show that it is dangerous to have them in your home sweet home. So, next time you’ll want a new pet, forgot the constrictor snakes and choice animals like an hedgehog, a ferret or an hamster because they are cute and not dangerous.
